BUZZ! Master Quiz, from the successful and massively popular series on Playstation game consoles, has made its way to the PSP handheld device. This trivia quiz-based PSP game puts players’ knowledge to the test at home or on the move. It features six new round types specifically designed for PSP including the speed-is-of-the-essence ‘Quickfire Challenge’, the picture-puzzler ‘Picture This’ and the mind-boggling ‘Virus Challenge’, each round also comes complete with pictures and videos.
Single-player mode presents players with a series of 15 different quiz challenges designed to test all aspects of general knowledge. In each round, players can earn gold, silver and bronze medals for performance depending on how many points they collect from correct answers.
There are also 15 special trophies that reward you for answering a question in less than half a second, getting a silver on every quiz, and having a perfect game in Picture This.
This mode offers an engaging though brief game experience, and that is perhaps the main weakness of the game. On the other hand, short rounds mean that this PSP game can be played in bite-sized chunks, an advantage for the time-poor.
Altogether, BUZZ! Master Quiz has more robust single player mode than previous versions of BUZZ!. With so many questions, there is plenty of scope to replay, sharpening both your wits and trigger-finger.
The focus of BUZZ! has always been on social gaming and the PSP version is no different, with three exciting multiplayer modes ideal to play with friends and family. It is admirable that two of these modes can be played using a single PSP.

Pass Around is a mode that enables players to use one PSP and pass the system around. In this mode, gamers can quiz their friends’ general knowledge wit and choose who to pass the PSP, adding a new tactical edge to gameplay.
Game sharing is also supported. This mode allows you to play the game on multiple PSPs using only one copy of the game. Up to four players can join in an effort to determine who can succeed in frenzied ‘Fastest Finger’ play.
Additionally, Quiz Host mode enables up to six players to play against each other using a single PSP, and with one taking control of the game to select and ask the questions. The Quiz Host runs the whole game, with the power to award (or even deduct) points however they see fit.
