LocoRoco 2 is one of the best PSP games you could download and play. It has a charming environment with great music and sound effects.
The first LocoRoco with its cute design and memorable soundtrack made it a tough PSP game to dislike even if you stumbled on some problems with its unique gameplay.
The story of LocoRoco 2 starts where the first game ended, with the defeated Moja sent back to their planet. However, the Moja’s leader, Bonmucho refused to give in to LocoRoco and their planet, and has prepared a new plan to attack the cheerful blobs with a powerful weapon: a musical weapon that covers in darkness anything that hears it while draining the life and color out of them.
The simple control system of the game has thankfully remained the same. The LocoRoco are moved around the beautiful 2D game world solely using the PSP triggers – R tilts the world right and L tilts it left to make them roll in that direction, and they jump when you hit both together. And the Circle button is used for doing other things.
Tap the Circle button to cause the LocoRoco to split into a number of smaller LocoRoco, making them able to pass through narrow places and reach new areas. On the other hand, if you want the LocoRoco to call out each other and be one again, you should hold Circle.
LocoRoco 2 trailer:
Your primary motivation in each lever is to find all 20 berries, some of which are amazingly well hidden. Each berry you find makes the LocoRoco grow.
In LocoRoco 2 the starring characters remain exactly the same as before. And if you played the original game, the levels are instantly familiar.
However, there are more unlockables in LocoRoco 2 and the whole game is much longer than its predecessor.
And also, the little cuties now face a genuine threat unlike the first game. There are more enemies than before, including long-tongued plants, spiky creatures, stinging bees, Bui Bui (the anti-Mui Mui), blowfish as well as floating Moja. If you touch one of these where you shouldn’t, a LocoRoco will eject from the main blob in panic – if you don’t want to lose it for the rest of the level, you should chase it down.
The new version of LocoRoco has some weaknesses too. For example, the boss fights are very easy, since your only real form of attack is jumping. And when you lose one of your Locos it feels a little unfair, and you have no way to get them back. So if you want a perfect ending for a level you’ll need to start again.
