Square Enix revealed at its Private Party in Shinjuku today that both The 3rd Birthday (aka Parasite Eve 3) and Final Fantasy Agito XIII will be released on the PSP. Both games were previously announced for cell phones, making all PSP gamers a little disappointed.

The last installment of the Parasite Eve series, Parasite Eve 2, was released on the Playstation console back in 2000.

Although many PSP gamers have been dying for a chance to get to play the next installment of the series, The 3rd Birthday is not a sequel, according to Square Enix. That’s why Parasite Eve has been excluded from the title. However, since Parasite Eve protagonist Aya Brea is making an appearance, fans refer to the game as “Parasite Eve 3.”

It is said that The 3rd Birthday follows the adventures of Aya Brea but plays differently from previous Parasite Eve titles.

A prequel to Final Fantasy XIII, Agito is part of the vast Fabula Nova Crystallis universe, which includes XIII and Versus XIII. Agito is supposed to implement online elements to the Final Fantasy game to expand the plot beyond the single player plot. Hints have been given to an MMORPG style online mode but won’t be as massive.

Also, Square Enix confirmed for the first time today that the Final Fantasy XIII full Japanese release is officially set for 2009.
