Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) has said it will be adding one more shade to the PSP, a limited edition Metallic Blue. The new color comes on top of the seven which are currently available in Japan following the relaunch of the PSP as the Slim version.
Scheduled for release on July 17th are two new SKUs for the PSP featuring a new “metallic blue” color for the game console – which has remained the best selling hardware format in Japan for the last few months.
There will be two different packs with the blue hue, the PSP Metallic Blue Value Pack for $226 and the PSP Metallic Blue 1 Seg Pack for $283. The difference in price is because of a TV ‘Seg’ tuner in the Seg pack.
The “PSP Metallic Blue Value Pack” will feature a PSP and its typical accoutrements, a 32MB Memory Stick Pro Duo, and AV Cable. The other bundle, the “PSP Metallic Blue 1 Seg Pack,” will have a PSP with accoutrements, a “1 Seg” tuner, a stand for TV viewing, and a 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo.

The blue PSPs are the same in color as the Madden PSP pack set to debut in the US in August.
SCEJ is all set to launch softwares for PSP that include third party titles - GUNDAM BATTLE UNIVERSE and SUPER ROBOT TAISEN A PORTABLE by NAMCO BANDAI, The Legend of Heroes: SORA NO KISEKI by Nihon Falcom Corporation, and PHANTASY STAR PORTABLE by SEGA CORPORATION.
